VAHAN is the national vehicle-registration database under Parivahan Sewa, consolidating registration certificates (RCs) issued by every State and Union Territory RTO. Citizens, prospective buyers and law-enforcement agencies can verify a vehicle by entering its registration number to fetch the make, model, year of manufacture, fuel type, owner's masked name, vehicle class, fitness and pollution-control validity, and any flagged hypothecation or theft status. The portal is integrated with FASTag, e-Challan and the RTO-fitness ecosystem so outstanding traffic violations are surfaced during the same verification flow. RCs in DigiLocker carry a QR code that returns identical authentication data off-line and is increasingly used at toll plazas and border check-posts.
