Passport Seva is the digital platform of the Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) Division of India's Ministry of External Affairs that delivers passport-related services to citizens. Through the portal, applicants can apply for fresh passports, renew expiring ones, request reissue with corrections, schedule appointments at Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK), and track application status throughout police verification and printing. Each Indian passport carries a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) and embedded biometric chip (e-passport rollout in progress) that border control agencies use for authenticity checks. Citizens can also verify whether a passport is genuine by entering the 8-character file number on the official tracker.
