CoWIN is the Government of India's nationwide platform for COVID-19 vaccination registration, scheduling and certification. Every vaccinated beneficiary receives a digitally-signed PDF certificate carrying a unique 13-character Beneficiary Reference Number (BRID) and a QR code. The verifier portal lets domestic and international authorities (employers, airlines, embassies, educational institutions) confirm authenticity by scanning the QR code, which decrypts to a verified payload of beneficiary name, age, ID type, dose timeline, and vaccine manufacturer. Travel-friendly variants of the certificate include a passport field for international compliance. The platform is interoperable with WHO's Smart Health Certificate format.
