KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana), now merged into INSPIRE Scheme for Higher Education, is a fellowship programme of the Department of Science & Technology administered by the Indian Institute of Science. Selected fellows receive monthly stipends of ₹5,000–₹7,000 from Class XI to PhD, and gain direct admission to BS / BS-MS programmes at IISc Bangalore and all seven IISERs without separate IAT. The programme has three streams: SA (Class XI), SX (Class XII) and SB (B.Sc. first-year). Selection is via an aptitude test followed by a personal interview at one of IISc's regional centres.
