Udyam Registration is the unified online classification system for micro, small and medium enterprises notified by the Ministry of MSME under the MSMED Act 2006 (revised classification, 2020). Every registered enterprise receives a permanent 19-character Udyam Registration Number (URN) and an electronically-generated Udyam Registration Certificate carrying a QR code. Banks, procurement agencies and corporate buyers verify supplier MSME status — and thereby eligibility for Public Procurement Policy benefits, priority-sector lending, and delayed-payment protection under Section 15 of MSMED — by entering the URN on the official verifier. Old Udyog Aadhaar Memoranda (UAM) have been migrated to Udyam; verification accepts both number formats.
